Hadith of the Day: Powerful Teachings from Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Hadith about the Son of Adam's denial of Allah's Oneness and Power

It is narrated in the blessed Hadith from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said that Allah Almighty says: “The son of Adam abused Me and it is not fitting for him, and he denied Me and it is not fitting for him. His abusing Me is saying that I have a son, and his denying Me is saying that I cannot create again as I created the first time.”

(Sahih Bukhari 3193)

A hadith narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) conveys Allah's words: 'The son of Adam insults Me by saying I have a son, and he denies Me by claiming I cannot recreate him as I did the first time.' Reference: Sahih Bukhari 3193, Book 59, Hadith 4.

Explanation of the hadith:

Allah, the Almighty, the Creator and Owner of the universe, is free from all partners, offspring, and weaknesses. But man sometimes blasphemes or denies the glory of Allah through his words and sometimes through his beliefs. In this blessed hadith, Allah Himself has pointed out this mistake of man and has urged us to avoid it.

Background of the hadith:

This Hadith Qudsi is the words of Allah Almighty that were conveyed to the Ummah through the Holy Prophet (PBUH). In them, Allah Almighty advises His servants to reform their beliefs and actions.

Complete faith in the Oneness of Allah Almighty:

The Hadith first describes the monotheism of Allah Almighty, stating that abusing Allah is to believe that He has a son. This belief is not only wrong but also against the Oneness of Allah Almighty.

  • The Jews called Uzair (PBUH) the son of Allah.
  • The Christians called Jesus (PBUH) the son of Allah.
  • The polytheists of Mecca called the angels the daughters of Allah.

Allah Almighty refuted all these false beliefs, saying:

"And they say: The Most Gracious has taken (for Himself) a son. Indeed, you have spoken a great error."

(Surah Maryam: 88-89)

Belief in the power of Allah:

The second part of the hadith clarifies man's denial that he does not believe in the possibility of being resurrected on the Day of Judgment.

This belief is a denial of Allah's creative power, while Allah created the universe without any example.

In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty repeatedly reminds man of his first creation and invites him to believe that re-creation is easy for him.

As Allah Almighty says:

"Does not man see that We created him from a sperm-drop, then suddenly he is quarrelsome?"

(Surah Yasin: 77)

Effects of blasphemy against Allah:

1. Weakness of Faith:

False beliefs about Allah deprive the human heart of the light of faith.

2. Denial of the Hereafter:

The denial of resurrection and rebirth inclines a person towards sins, because he does not accept the accountability of the Hereafter.

3. Divine Punishment:

The Quran and Hadith mention severe punishment for those who associate partners with Allah and deny His power.

Lessons from the Hadith:

1. Belief in the Oneness of Allah:

We must have complete faith that Allah is One, has no children, and is not in need of anyone.

2. Belief in the Day of Judgment and the Hereafter:

This belief is part of faith that we will all be resurrected and will be held accountable for our deeds.

3. Adopting the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah:

This hadith guides us to understand the attributes of Allah Almighty and His power, which is not possible without adherence to the Quran and Sunnah.

Advice for Muslims:

It is incumbent upon every Muslim to correct his beliefs in the light of the Quran and Sunnah and to try to avoid all those misleading ideas and beliefs that undermine belief in the oneness of Allah and His power. Without correct beliefs, neither worship is accepted nor salvation is possible.

Steps necessary for the accuracy of beliefs:

1. Study of the Quran:

The Holy Quran is the word of Allah, which guides man to the straight path. Try to understand its meaning and commands.

2. Study of Hadiths:

The Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) are the best source for understanding the practical aspects of religion. Correct your beliefs and actions in the light of them.

3. Guidance from scholars:

Seek guidance from authoritative scholars and religious experts so that you can reform your beliefs.

4. Religious books and teachings:

Increase religious knowledge through reliable religious books and teachings.

Avoid false ideas:

Be careful about the misleading beliefs and ideologies spreading around you.

Test everything against the criteria of the Quran and Sunnah.

Also give correct religious education to children and family members so that they are protected from false beliefs.
